Children
Where is your studio based?
My studio is based at the Custard Factory in Birmingham
I would like to book a sitter session, when would be the best time to do this?
You can pre- book your sitter session at your newborn shoot and a date can be fixed when your little one is reaching this milestone. Alternatively you can book anytime from the moment you child is able to sit unaided. Children reach this milestone at different times but your shoot can take place right up until they are pulling themselves up to standing.
What should I dress my child in for the photos?
I have a few lovely rompers in the studio that I love to photograph sitters in however as every child is different they may not be the right fit. Please bring some plain/neutral rompers or dungarees options with you. Creams and light/pastel colours work well for babies and older children as well as earthy, neutral colours. Please avoid busy logos or patterns and we will discuss clothing in a pre-session phone call. If you have a special teddy or headband/hat that you would like to incorporate in an image please feel free to bring that along.
What if my kids won't co -operate?
Babies and children are unpredictable. This is completely normal and if your child is having a bad moment please don't worry at all. It can be a good idea to bring along some books or an ipad for the short breaks we will have in between images and this sometimes helps. Often when a child feels like they have to sit and smile at the camera this really has the opposite effect. I like to encourage them and chat whilst taking their photos which helps them forget that they need to sit still. The calmer and happier we all are the more the children will want to be a part of it.

My baby and children sessions, whether in the studio or outdoor are a fun and happy experience. There is no way to predict how a child will feel on the day of a shoot and my aim is always to make the process as relaxed and natural as possible so that everyone can just be themselves. I like to capture real and natural moments rather than forced smiles and I find that when a child feels happy, safe and comfortable to just be, that the best images are captured.
